Each month, the Colonial School District Board of Directors typically honors students, faculty/staff, and others who have had a positive impact on the school district community. Please take a look at these photos for individuals honored during the 2023-24 school year.
CMS Odyssey of the Mind team members display their certificates

The Colonial School District Board of Directors honored Odyssey of the Mind team members during the Sept. 21, 2023 General Meeting. The students finished 27th at the World Finals competition held in May 2023. Learn more about the team by clicking here. 

The Colonial School District Board of Directors honored Plymouth Whitemarsh High School junior Rhianna Gooneratne at the Nov. 16, 2023 General Meeting for winning the PIAA AAA state championship in girls golf. Learn more about Rhianna's accomplishments by clicking here.

Colonial Middle School and Plymouth Whitemarsh High School students performed scenes from their upcoming spring musicals at the Feb. 15th meeting. 

Middle school students promoted "Camp Rock," which will take place March 1-3 and high school students gave a sneak peek at songs from "The Little Mermaid," which will take place March 7-10. Check the District News & Announcements for ticket information.

Susan Moore listens to comments from Board members

Former School Board member and President Susan Moore was celebrated for serving more than 20 years at the Feb. 15th meeting. Mrs. Moore was lauded for her unwavering support of students, faculty/staff, and community members. Several sitting Board members thanked her for mentoring them and for being an example to students and the community.

On March 21st, the School Board recognized members of the Clarinet Choir and Tilly McLaughlin, who was named First Chair Bass Clarinet in the All-State Concert Band. The Board also celebrated Music In Our Schools Month with a performance by the choir. Click here for more information.

Members of the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Cheerleading Team were honored Sept. 15 for winning a number of awards at the Universal Cheerleading Association's Pine Forest Cheer Camp.

PWHS student golfers honored

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School students Evan Rosenstein and Rhianna Gooneratne were honored at the Nov. 17 meeting for their outstanding golf seasons. 

Members of the PWHS Volleyball Team were honored by the Board

Members of the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Volleyball Team were recognized at the Jan. 19, 2023 Board meeting for winning the Suburban One League Championship and for having an undefeated season.

PW Girls Basketball Team

Members of the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School varsity girls basketball team were honored at the March 16, 2023 meeting for their outstanding season. The team finished with a 20-2 overall record, won its fourth straight Liberty Division title, its second straight Suburban One League Tournament Championship and was ranked one of the state's top 20 teams. Coach Dan Dougherty spoke about the team's accomplishments as well as the individual accomplishments of outgoing seniors, including Erin Daley and Abby Sharpe, who both scored their 1,000th point during the course of the season. 

Clarinet Crew performs at Board meeting

Members of the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Clarinet Crew perform for the School Board at the March 16, 2023 meeting. The performance was one of several to celebrate Music In Our Schools Month. Newly-elected members of the Tri-M National Honor Society thanked the Board for its support of the music program and helped unveil the Music Department's new logo.

The Plymouth Whitemarsh High School boys basketball team was recognized at the April 20th School Board meeting for its outstanding season. The team clinched the Suburban One League Championship and District One Championship.

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School seniors Olivia Prusky and Emma Freedman were honored for serving as student representatives to the School Board. The two students attended Board meetings regularly to share information with school directors about school events and initiatives.

Karlie Picard honored at School Board meeting.

Central Montco Technical Career Center students Ana Karen Seynos Alonso and Karlie Picard were honored at the June 15 School Board meeting for winning medals in the district level SkillsUSA competition. Ana, who was not present at the meeting, was recognized for winning third place in restaurant service, while Karlie was recognized for winning first place in cake decorating. Because of her first-place win at the district level, Karlie went on to compete at the state level, where she won a bronze medal. Tanya Prickitt, Colonial Middle School math teacher, shakes the hand of Dr. Michael Christian, Superintendent, during the June Board meeting. Mrs. Prickitt was recognized by the Board for having received the Citadel Heart of Learning Grand Prize Award this year.

Colonial TSA students

Members of the Colonial Technology Student Association (TSA) were honored on June 16. Twenty-one high school and 21 middle school students attended the state conference and many of them brought home awards in team and individual events. Some students also qualified to compete at the national level. 

Dylan Renner is recognized at school board meeting

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School student Dylan Renner was honored at the May 19 School Board meeting for winning a Gold Medal in the SkillsUSA state competition. Dylan, who is also a student at Central Montco Technical High School, won for his work in the Video, Sound and Music Production category. 

George Hankins receives Heart of Learning Award at school board meeting

George Hankins was recognized at the May 19 School Board meeting for winning the grand prize in the middle school category of the Citadel Heart of Learning Award. Mr. Hankins is a teacher at Colonial Middle School. 

PW Unified Bocce Team honored at school board meeting

Members of the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Unified Bocce team were honored at the May 19 meeting for placing second in the PIAA Eastern State Finals held in March 2022. 

Student representatives honored at school board meeting

Ethan Verlin and Emma Manley were honored at the May 19 meeting for serving as Student Representatives to the Board for the 2021-22 school year. Both students made monthly reports about events and initiatives taking place at each school in the District.

Odyssey of the Mind students were honored at the April 21st School Board meeting for their accomplishments at the state finals.

The Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Chamber Ensemble performed for the School Board at the March 17 meeting as part of Music in Our Schools Month.

Two colleagues from Eric's RX honored at school board meeting

On March 17, 2022, the School Board honored Eric Abramowitz and Marc Ost from Eric's RX Shoppe for their work in bringing vaccine clinics to the families of Colonial School District. Eric's RX partnered with the District to help vaccinate approximately 1,600 people in the community against COVID-19.

The 2021 Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Varsity Baseball Team was honored at the October 21, 2021 School Board meeting for winning the Suburban One League Championship (Liberty Division).

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School students Sophia Kosvitch, Zach Porter, and Ava Suarez were honored at the Oct. 21, 2021 School Board meeting for achieving the status of Semi-Finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. 

Also recognized were Plymouth Whitemarsh High School students Fiona Gooneratne, Alex Halbert, and Nate Schindler for achieving the status of Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Nate Schindler was also honored separately for receiving the International Baccalaureate Mid-Atlantic Student Excellence Award. IB Programme Coordinator Becky Duffy introduced Nate.
