Colonial School District is now hiring part-time aids to supervise students in the cafeteria and at recess. While the listing says substitute, the District is looking for long-term Monday-Friday help for the 2022-2023 school year, as well as day-to-day people to fill in when they can.

“My favorite thing is hanging out with the kids. They’re a good time, they make you laugh, and it’s all around fun being out here,” said Kayann Chesky, who supervises students at Colonial Elementary School.

The only requirements for the position are a high school diploma (or equivalent) and the ability to positively interact with children, teachers, and administrators.

“If you’re a stay-at-home parent and have kids in the school district, it’s only a couple hours a day, and you get off the same days they do,” added Mrs. Chesky. “It’s rewarding that you have the same schedule as your children.”

The long-term Monday-Friday position would be assigned to one building and pays $14.25/hour. The daily substitute aid position pays $13.40/hour. All of the elementary schools and Colonial Middle School use aids.
