Through the generosity of our donors, the Colonial School District Education Foundation (CSDEF) has been able to continue its work to fulfill uniquefunding gaps that arise during the school year, as well as fund innovative programs that will continue to benefit Colonial students for years to come.
Plymouth Whitemarsh High School students interested in Design Technology or Business can now take advantage of the International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme (IBCP), thanks to a grant from the CSDEF. The inaugural class of IBCP participants have completed their first year of a two-year series of courses that allows them to explore their subject area more deeply, while incorporating service learning, language development, and a more global view.
“We felt that the programme would complement PW’s goals of developing well-rounded, empathetic, lifelong learners,” said English Teacher and IBCP Coordinator Becky Duffy.
Helping Kids Connect, the 2020-2021 Annual Fund Drive focus, passed this year's fundraising goal by more than 50%, enabling the CSDEF to provide each school with $1,000 to meet the technology of needs of learners during the COVID pandemic.
The CSDEF’s ongoing relationship with Karamoor Estate Winery meant virtual tastings in 2020-2021. More than 40 contributors picked up their wines and edibles provided by DiGiacomo Brothers Specialty Food Company and Sweet Thangs Nut & Candy and enjoyed an evening of pairings through Zoom.
"We knew it would be difficult to fundraise in our typical way without our Foundation Day and raffles to events like the Philadelphia Auto Show that were sponsored in the past by Subaru of America," said Jori Broad, CSDEF co-president. "We were so happy to see how generous many families, who were in a position to donate during this unprecedented year, really supported our efforts and our schools."
- Helping Kids Connect, the 2020-2021 Annual Fund Drive focus, raised $7,868 to support virtual/hybrid technology.
- Feel the Love, the CSDEF Annual Teacher Recognition Campaign raised $5,628 for teacher grants.
- AmazonSmile has brought in $2,225 for the Foundation. Click here to make the CSDEF your AmazonSmile charity.
