Though we are still trying to limit visitors to our buildings, we continue to welcome partnerships with those who want to volunteer for our schools and students. This is a friendly reminder that in order to volunteer, you must have current clearances on file with the District.

Many may find that their clearances have expired because they received them when the state changed its volunteer requirements in 2014. Per Act 153 (Child Protective Services Law), all school employees, contractors and volunteers having direct contact with children must obtain new clearances every five years.

Please be sure to check your clearances and resubmit them if they have expired. We are pleased to share that you can now submit your clearances online. Click here for the link to submit your information:

There is no need to resubmit your application and clearances if they are currently valid and on file. Only first-time volunteers or those with expired clearances need to submit an application/clearances. If you cannot remember if your clearances are expired or not, it’s best to resubmit.

As a reminder, volunteers must submit the following:

  • Child Abuse History Clearance
  • PA State Police Criminal Background Check
  • FBI Background Check (or a waiver if you have lived in Pennsylvania for the last 10 years consecutively)

Once your application has been approved, you will receive a confirmation message.  This message will be the only communication you receive and there will be no follow-up concerning the expiration of your clearances, so please keep a record of when your clearances may expire.

If you have questions about how to obtain these clearances or how a volunteer is defined, we invite you to visit our website for additional information:
