Plymouth Whitemarsh High School senior Mia Fleming has signed to Arcadia University to compete in the triple and long jump for the Knights.
The two-year captain is in her fourth year as a jumper for the Colonials. Highlights of her career include being selected honorable mention in the long jump and second team in the triple jump for the 2022 Suburban One All League teams, sailing to a 34’-6” in the triple jump for a silver medal at the 2022 Suburban One League American Conference Championships, and establishing a personal record of 17’ in the long jump against Abington.
“I enjoy the relationships I have with my teammates and the confidence they help instill in me when I perform well,” said Mia. “I also value the bonds I have created with my coaches as they have helped shape me as an athlete. Finally, I love the feeling of competing and hitting PR's that I have worked for.”
Mia started her career in seventh grade at Colonial Middle School and is looking forward to new competition and new friendships at the collegiate level.
“PWHS has helped me prepare for the next step, because my teachers and guidance counselors have been there for me both academically and emotionally,” she said. “They helped push me to become a better person throughout high school.”
Mia also played soccer for the Colonials through her junior year and ran cross country her senior year.
