During Fire Prevention Week, members of the Harmonville, Barren Hill and Spring Mill fire companies visited with Colonial School District community members at the Homecoming football game held on Oct. 8.

The companies had a presence at the game in an effort to encourage students and community members to serve as volunteers and to remind all of the importance of fire safety. Volunteers can be as young as 14 and training is provided by the companies. Please click on the links below for more information about serving:

Young children may not be eligible yet to volunteer, but they can still contribute by practicing EDITH (Exit Drills in the Home) and learning the sounds of fire safety. A good start is this video by Mrs. Sturm, a former Ridge Park Elementary School teacher and Harmonville firefighter.

The video reinforces fire safety lessons that children may already be familiar with in a fun, quiz-show-style format. Test your knowledge today!
