Blending hip hop dance with important messages about equality, equity and inclusion, performers from Hip Hop Fundamentals entertained and educated Colonial Elementary School students during a Feb. 27th assembly.
The quartet of dancers who visited the school elicited cheers and excitement from students who watched them perform breakdance moves that defied gravity. Part of their routine included sharing information about the civil rights movement in the United States, inviting students to read quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and helping students to understand terms like racism and prejudice.
Students were also invited up on stage to try out some breakdance moves of their own. The assembly was part of the school’s ongoing celebration of Black History Month.
