Plymouth Whitemarsh High School senior Alexandra Papadopoulos has signed to throw javelin for the Gwynedd Mercy University Griffins.

A member of the track and field team since middle school, Alexandra tried several events before settling on javelin her junior year at PWHS. Her personal record is 73 feet.

“My career at PWHS has allowed me to take steps and face challenges I never imagined I would and allowed me to put myself out there,” said Alexandra.

Invitationals have always been her favorite type of meets.

“The energy on that day is like no other, and I’ll never forget the support my teammates provided me,” she said. “Each time I would hit a personal record, they would do nothing but jump and cheer for me and hug me. There is no better feeling than that.”

At PWHS, Alexandra is also a member of the orchestra, the morning music show, and PW Pals. She has also served as an orientation leader and was part of the swim team and chorus.

She plans to major in psychology at Gywnedd Mercy.
