DONNA DRIZIN, PRINCIPAL
Donna E. Drizin was named Principal at Whitemarsh Elementary School prior to the 2001-2002 school year. A product of the Colonial School District, she was inducted into the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Distinguished Graduates Organization in April 2001. Mrs. Drizin currently serves on the Advisory Council for Arcadia University and Chestnut Hill College.
From 1988 through 2001, Mrs. Drizin served as Director of Special Education for the Colonial School District and as Special Education Compliance Monitor for the Pennsylvania Department of Education. In 2000, the Montgomery County Association for Retarded Citizens recognized Mrs. Drizin as its Educator of the Year.
Mrs. Drizin came to the Colonial School District from the Martin Luther Silver Springs School in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., where she served as Director of the school from 1989 to 1998. She received the Walter R. Harrison Award, for dedicated and distinguished service to children and families, from the school in 1995.
Mrs. Drizin earned an Elementary Principal Certificate and a Supervisory Special Education Certificate in 1996. She also holds teaching certificates in the areas of elementary education, reading specialist and mentally and/or physically handicapped in grades K-12. Mrs. Drizin holds BS degrees in Elementary Education and Mentally and/or Physically Handicapped from the Pennsylvania State University. She earned a M.Ed., with a specialty in reading, from Beaver College.
