Plymouth Whitemarsh High School's Grace Carney to play for Gwynedd Mercy University

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School’s Grace Carney has signed to play softball at Gwynedd Mercy University.

Grace has been a captain for the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School varsity softball team for the last two years. She pitches and plays first base and received a leadership award for her efforts during the 2022 sports banquet. Highlights for her have included playing in first-round playoff game at home and participating in some big comeback wins against difficult teams.

“My favorite thing about this sport is being able to work with my teammates to achieve goals and strengthen our skills,” she said.

She hopes to help the team bring home a title this spring. As she looks ahead to college, Grace said her high school experiences have set her up for success.

“My career at PWHS prepared me for this next step by teaching me how to grow as an individual and how to work in group-like situations efficiently,” she said. “I am looking forward to meeting new people and growing as player on and off the field. I am excited to have been given this opportunity to keep playing the sport I love.”

Grace has been a softball player since she was in elementary school. She also plays for the Ambler Boilermakers 18U Navy Team. Along with sports, Grace belongs to the high school’s American Red Cross Club and the National Business Honor Society.

She plans to major in business administration.
