Class of 2018 Fun Facts

Three hundred and forty Plymouth Whitemarsh High School (PWHS) students are receiving their diplomas at commencement ceremonies on June 12, and here are some fun facts about the graduating class.

  • The most popular girl's name is Sarah (there are five), but there are also two named Sara, bringing it to seven.
  • There are seven boys named Ryan, making it the most popular boy's name.
  • There are also three Alexanders, two Alexandras, and two Alexandrias.
  • The Class of 2018 has nine sets of twins and two sets of triplets.
  • More than one third of the class, or 37 percent, will graduate with a cumulative grade point average of 4.0 or higher.
  • More than 91 percent are continuing their education, 74 percent to a four-year school and 17 percent at a two-year school.
  • Four students are going to college outside of the United States, two in the United Kingdom and two in Canada.
  • Seven students are entering the military.
  • Members of the PWHS Class of 2018 are receiving scholarships and grants totaling more than $15.5 million over four years.
  • The class includes one National Merit Scholarship Finalist and seven Commended Scholars.
  • The class also has the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association 6A Girls’ Basketball Player of the Year.
  • The Class of 2018 was also the first to to visit their elementary schools in their caps and gowns.
