Learn more about anti-bullying efforts and resources

As the new school year gets underway, Colonial School District would like to share information with families about our efforts to prevent and/or address bullying in our schools.

Bullying is not tolerated in the Colonial School District and we follow Board Policy (click here to review policy) to address instances occurring within the school setting. If your child is experiencing bullying either in-person or online, we want to know about it. We encourage you to contact your child’s principal or school counselors when you have a concern.

Each school also has a Student Assistance Program (SAP) or CARE Team in place to respond when there are concerns about a student’s behavior, academics, health, attendance or drug and alcohol use. You can click here to get more information on how to contact your school’s SAP team.

If contacting a school representative is something you or your child does not feel comfortable with doing, please know that tips can be submitted anonymously via the Safe2Say app, website or hotline. Safe2Say is offered through the state and all tips are forwarded to appropriate school district personnel so that they can be addressed in a timely manner. The phone number is 1-844-SAFE2SAY (1-844-723-2729). To submit a tip online, you can click here, or you can download the app.

If you are interested in learning more about our anti-bullying initiatives and policies/procedures, we invite you to attend the upcoming Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Committee meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.

Student assemblies and a parent/guardian night about cyberbullying are also being planned for October, which is National Bullying Prevention Month. We will follow up with more information about these events as details are finalized. Please keep an eye on your eFriday Folder, the website, and Colonial School District social media channels for more information.
