Colonial School District has received over $11,500 to be used to feed students in need over the summer, thanks to the GIANT Company’s Feeding School Kids initiative.
Representatives from the Plymouth Meeting and Conshohocken stores visited Colonial Elementary School in April to present the district with a check for $11,588.80, which was the result of customers rounding up at the register from January to March. The company also contributed.
The money will be used to pay for meals provided to students who attend District’s summer programs, such as Summer Academy and Extended School Year. Approximately one in four Colonial School District students qualify for free or reduced lunch and face the issues that are associated with food insecurity.
