School bus drivers get ready to roll for 2026-2027 school year

Colonial Elementary School welcomed 200+ bus drivers from Colonial and Norristown school districts for their annual training.

The drivers reviewed safety protocols with First Student representative Andre Huertas and learned about a new electronic discipline system that will allow the drivers to use a tablet to quickly document any incidents on the bus.

The training also gave the drivers a chance to reconnect after the summer break, meet new members of the team, and celebrate some of the drivers who have been with the company the longest. 

Colonial School District’s Director of Transportation Christopher Brown was excited to host the event. “The drivers are Colonial’s heartbeat,” he said. “It’s great that we have the opportunity to show how much we appreciate each and every one of them.”

Bus schedules will be available in PowerSchool starting Friday, August 21. However, families should continue to review transportation information up until the first day of school, since changes may be made to maximize the efficiency of the school bus routes.
