PWHS seniors Daniel Ajuz and Ciara Frederic medal at Indoor Track & Field State Championship
Congratulations to long jumpers Daniel Ajuz and Ciara Frederic for medaling at the 50th Pennsylvania Indoor Track and Field State Championship on February 25 at Penn State University.
Plymouth Whitemarsh High School senior and team captain Daniel Ajuz won the silver medal in the Boys Long Jump with a jump of 22-7.25. In addition to ranking second in the state, Daniel has jumped his way to elite status and will be in a long jump field that will consist of the top jumpers in the nation when he competes at the Nike Indoor Nationals in March.
PWHS senior and team captain Ciara Frederic placed seventh with a jump of 17-7.75. Ciara also ran a time of 7.98 in the girls 60-meter dash. Ciara has consistently run sub-eight seconds in the 60-meter dash this season. Ciara will also be competing in the Girls 4x200 meter relay at Nike Indoor Nationals in two weeks.
Other members of the PWHS Indoor Track and Field team had strong performances at the state championship.
PWHS junior and team captain Tyra Goard competed in the Girls Triple Jump and is expected to make the Outdoor State Championships this Spring season. Tyra will also be competing in the Girls 4x200 meter relay at Nike Indoor Nationals in two weeks.
The Boys 4x800 meter relay team proved that they belonged among the best in the state this season. The team consisted of sophomores Willie Waerig, Hantuan Beltran, Joshua Bucko, and junior Kaiden Rickert. The boys are consistently improving their times and have the pedigree to one day be state champions. They will also be competing in the Boys 4x800 meter relay at Nike Indoor Nationals in two weeks.
