Indoor Track and Field continue to break records heading into States

Congratulations and good luck to the boys and girls indoor track and field team members heading to states on Sunday, February 25.

The girls team has had a strong season with several broken records.

  • The girls 4x200 relay team (PWHS juniors Luce Allen, Tyra Goard, and Riley Ruprecht with senior Ciara Frederic) broke the school record in January with a time of 1:49.36.

  • The 4x800 team (PWHS senior Sanaa Power, freshman Emma Semeral, and juniors Julia Werner and Saige Reed) also beat the school record in January at Alvernia University, with a time of 11:04.64.

  • The 4x400 relay team (PWHS juniors Luce Allen, Aniyah Cain, Riley Ruprecht, and Saige Reid) broke the school record in February at Lehigh University, with a time of 4:23.49.

The boys team broke more records heading into the state event.

  • Cole Ashbridge broke the indoor shot put record that was held by Nick Hyde 47-3 in 2017 and Quincy Williams 45-6 2016 with a throw of 47-5.5 at TFCAGP last chance meet.

  • The 4x800 broke its own record again running 8:28.53 after first taking the record at the Ocean Breeze Invitational in New York City. This 4x800 team was made up Joshua Bucko, Brett Westerfer, Jack Yamashita, and Willie Waerig.

  • Daniel Ajuz jumped a season's best of 22-8 inches placing him fourth in the state.

Members of both teams will be heading to Penn State this weekend to compete in the Pennsylvania Track and Field Coaches Association Indoor State Championship in State College. Some of the students athletes have also been invited to compete in the Nike Indoor National Championships in New York City in March.
