District receives over $11,000 to help feed students this summer

Colonial School District will have over $11,000 more to put toward helping students receive meals during the summer, thanks to the GIANT Company's Feeding School Kids initiative.

Representatives from the Plymouth Meeting and Conshohocken stores visited Colonial Elementary School recently to present the $11,067.95 check to members of the Food and Nutrition Services Department. The funds were generated by customers who elected to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar and/or convert CHOICE points to a donation. Giant then matches the donations.

The money will be used to pay for meals provided to students who attend the District’s existing summer programs, such as the Extended School Year program and Summer Academy.

Employees display a check representing donations made for student meals.
