Colonial School District has been named as one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) has named

This award, which the district has received annually for the last several years, recognizes school districts for exemplary dedication to music education and ongoing efforts to ensure equitable access to music learning as part of a well-rounded education.

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Colonial’s music teachers answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs. 

The NAMM Foundation is the charitable arm of the National Association of Music Merchants, the global trade association for the music products industry. To uphold the program's rigor and credibility, all applications were independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a leading research and evaluation firm specializing in education and the arts.
