Congratulations to the Colonial Middle School String Ensemble and Wind Ensemble for receiving Superior Ratings at the High Note Festival in Allentown.

The CMS String Ensemble and Wind Ensemble are advanced groups offered to instrumental musicians after school.

“You get to be a part of something really cool, and you get to do things that you don't usually do in a normal orchestra,” said seventh grade viola player Autumn Bobo. “And you are challenged more.”

The groups performed selected repertoire in front of a panel of judges at the festival.

“My favorite piece was Primrose Hill, because we have a harp solo and it sounds really pretty,” said sixth grade violinist Julia Waldron.

The String Ensemble is conducted by CMS Orchestra Director Elise Derewitz, and the Wind Ensemble is led by CMS Band Director David O’Neill.
