Move Up Camp for incoming sixth graders: July 28 or August 5
The Colonial Middle School is offering your child an opportunity to participate in a Move Up Camp designed to prepare middle school students for grade 6. We are really looking forward to meeting your child!
Please know that our updated dates are July 28th or August 5th. We would also like to provide some general information regarding the day’s activities so that you are prepared for the camp.
The cost for the event is $10 (cash or check to Colonial Middle School). You can mail it, drop it off at the CMS Main Office, or send it in with your child on the day of camp. Please arrange for transportation as camp is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Students are welcome to arrive between 8:20 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Students may check-in by entering Door 3 (labeled Gym/Auditorium) and receive their group assignment. Light breakfast snacks and juice will be provided at this time as well. Please notify us prior to camp if there are any dietary/medical concerns.
An enthusiastic and talented team of teachers has been assembled to help guide your child through the day. Some of the day’s activities include:
- learning how to open and operate a school locker
- learning to read and utilize an academic schedule
- learning about the available technology
- taking part in a scavenger hunt to help students navigate the building
- getting to know the staff, administrators, and peers
The day will conclude where it began, in the cafeteria, for lunch in which pizza and beverages will be served. The camp officially ends at 12:45pm. Please plan on meeting your child where you dropped them off between 12:45 p.m.-1:00 p.m.
