Indoor Track and Field teams shine with record-breaking performances at PTFCA festival

The Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Indoor Track and Field teams made history this week with remarkable performances at the Pennsylvania Track and Field Coaches Association (PTFCA) Indoor Track Festival at the University of Pennsylvania.

The PW boys’ 4x800 Meter Relay team of Joshua Bucko, William Waerig, Christopher Gekonge, and Brett Westerfer, delivered an incredible time of 8:04.90. The four juniors qualified for the New Balance Nationals in Boston, while being ranked sixth in Pennsylvania and 27th nationally. Their time also shattered a 16-year-old school record by nine seconds

Adding to the excitement, Luke Damalas dominated the 60 Meter Hurdles, taking first place overall with a blazing time of 8.71, while Devin Spruill secured fifth place with a time of 8.89. In the field, Cole Ashbridge threw for a personal best of 48.7.50 (14.82m) in the shot put, landing fourth place overall.

The PW girls team also delivered outstanding results. Ella Catania clocked a personal best of 59.54 in the 400 Meter Run, finishing sixth, and Emma Simeral ran a strong 2:20.40 in the 800 Meter Run. The girls 4x400 Meter Relay team also achieved a huge PR with a time of 4:08.05, finishing fourth overall and climbing to ninth in the state rankings.

“These incredible efforts show the determination and talent of our athletes,” said Coach Clarence Lewis. “Let’s celebrate their success and keep cheering them on as they continue to reach new heights!”
