On April 12, Colonial School District welcomed back the majority of students for five-days-per-week, in-person learning — including many students who’ve been virtual learners since the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year.
“I missed being with my friends and seeing my teacher and everyone on a screen, and now I get to see them in person,” said Lily Spiegel, a fourth grader at Colonial Elementary School.
The District prepared through March and the beginning of April to make sure that the return was smooth and safe for students and staff, including using all available spaces to maintain social distancing during lunches and continuing to assign seats and limit the number of students on the buses.
“It was great to welcome everybody back and everybody can be one family together on Bus C1!” said Miss Mahogany.
While the option to remain virtual through the end of the school year is also still in place for those families who prefer it, the day marked the first to offer all Colonial School District students in-person learning since March of last year.
