Tuesday evening (September 22), the Colonial Board of School Directors approved a plan to partially re-open schools in mid-October. Students in grades K-5 will return to school in a two-day per week hybrid model on Monday, October 19 and students in grades 6-12 will return in the hybrid model on Monday, October 26. Fortunately, positivity rates in the county for COVID-19 have been stable and within the permissible Department of Health guidelines to allow for in-person learning.
The hybrid model has some students attending class in school on Mondays and Wednesdays and others attending class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On days students are not physically in class, they will participate virtually. Students also have the option to remain with the 100 percent virtual learning model.
Parents/guardians are asked to complete a survey by Monday, September 28 to verify the selections they made in early August. Please complete a survey for each of your children. Click here to complete the survey. For those who did not submit the original survey or those who are changing to the hybrid option, students will be assigned to a cohort based upon balancing classroom numbers to achieve social distancing.
The re-opening timeline may change or be altered by District administration and is contingent upon compliance with the required positivity metrics set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the PA Department of Health orders governing school operations.
We appreciate your timely reply to this request.
