Students at Plymouth and Ridge Park to benefit from new playground equipment

The PE PTO donated more than $76,000 to upgrade the playground at the school. The money was raised over a number of years keyed mainly by the success of the annual handbag bingo event, which raised between $8,500 and $10,000 a year.

"We were the biggest (K-3) school and had the smallest playground," said PTO member and project leader Sheri Cummins. "We only had four swings when the idea for the project first came up years ago. However, space was an issue so we got discouraged and put it on the back burner. We really got the 'let's get it done' bug around the 2014-2015 school year."

With the recently installed playground addition, PE now has 16 swings and two large, separate areas for slides and play structures.

The RP PTO recently donated $38,000 to upgrade the playground at that school. RP last received new playground equipment in 2014.
