Congratulations to Plymouth Whitemarsh High School (PWHS) Advanced Placement (AP) Photo Majors Allison Freels, Anthony Tomassetti, Mary DiGiovine and Sophia Jang for having their work juried into Cabrini University’s Second Annual Art + Effect High School Poster Exhibition.
For 2018, the objective of the contest was for high school students to create a conceptual poster on the theme of immigration. The entries were judged by a panel of graphic designers who looked for originality, craftsmanship and thematic message.
The four PWHS students will be honored for their winning designs at an opening reception on Sunday, November 18, 1:30 p.m., in the Grace & Joseph Govevin Gallery at Cabrini University. The work will remain on display until December 10.
AP Photo (AP Studio Art: 2-D Design) is one of the many AP courses at PWHS where students may earn college credit while still in high school. The course challenges high school students to create a three-part portfolio that includes five pieces that show a clear understanding of 2-D design, technique and content, 12 related pieces as part of an in-depth concentration and 12 pieces that show breadth.
PWHS offers more AP courses than most public and private schools in the area.
