Making A Difference: CES Angel Tree

Students with shopping carts in TargetEach December, CES Cares, the service learning club at Colonial Elementary School (CES), collects money to buy presents for needy families during the winter holidays.

The students make speeches, create signs and collect money during the month and then meet at Target in the Metroplex as a group to shop.

"Some kids might not have as much clothes and stuff to wear as us," said CES fifth grader Megan English. "It was really fun to choose stuff for the other kids."

This year, the club budgeted $1,500 to purchase presents but ended up bringing in $3,500 — more than double their original goal. They used the donations to pick up gifts for 40 children from the District.
