At its June meeting, the Colonial Board of School Directors promoted Plymouth Elementary School (PE) Principal Rosemarie Gregitis to the central administration position Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment.
"Mrs. Gregitis' experience in the areas of supervision, program evaluation, professional development and curriculum writing will be invaluable to us in the District Office," said Colonial Superintendent of Schools Dr. Mike Christian, who also noted her experience as a classroom teacher and reading specialist. "She will help guide the District's continuous improvement model and review our current program with an eye toward increased diversity curricula."
Dr. Christian added that Mrs. Gregitis will remain in the dual role of PE principal to open the new school year.
Mrs. Gregitis joined the Colonial School District in July of 2013 as Principal of Plymouth Elementary School. Mrs. Gregitis came to Colonial from the Upper Darby School District where she served as Principal of the Charles Kelly Elementary School (CKES) for three years, including one year as Interim Principal at CKES and the district's Kindergarten Center. She has extensive experience as a reading specialist, instructional support teacher, kindergarten and elementary classroom teacher and literacy coach.
Mrs. Gregitis holds a B.S. from West Chester University and an M.S. and Principal's and Supervision Certifications from St. Joseph's University where she is continuing post-graduate studies.
Mrs. Gregitis replaces Dr. Elizabeth McKeaney who retired after more than two decades in the District, including the past 15 years in the central administration. In 2000, while a teacher in the CSD, Dr. McKeaney was awarded the Milken National Educator Award by Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Milken Foundation.
