Diversity poetry series continues with "The Hill We Climb"

Educators from across the district joined together to read Amanda Gorman's "The Hill We Climb," as part of Colonial's celebration of Women's History Month.

Teachers, administrators, and School Board members each read different sections of the poem, which was made famous when Miss Gorman recited it at President Joe Biden's inauguration. The poem recognizes that the country is going through a time of change and struggle, and calls upon everyone to work together in a spirit of unity to overcome those struggles. This video is part of the district's diversity poetry series, which was started by Gerald James, Colonial School District's Diversity, Equity & Instruction Officer. He has also worked with students at Plymouth Elementary School to create a video about the poem "Diversity" by Ahmad Cox as part of February's celebration of Black History Month.
