Conshohocken Elementary PTO and IKEA surprise CE teachers

Conshohocken Elementary (CE) teachers came back to a refurbished faculty lounge this fall thanks to the CE Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and IKEA.

The team replaced the furniture in the faculty lounge with a table in the center of the room for meeting or eating, a hightop table along one wall, as well as a sitting area that includes a couch, chair and a couple of side tables.

"We wanted it to be somewhat of a surprise," said Noreen McAleese, PTO co-president. "It was a very sterile looking room. We knew our teachers didn't have a couch to relax on. Now it's a nice environment for them to take a break."

In addition to donating the furniture, IKEA sent employees to help the PTO volunteers build the pieces and put the room together.

"I was happy that everything worked out just in time for the school year to start," said Bob Kliamovich, IKEA Sales Leader. "It was nice to be able to give back to the community and the teachers that do so much for the children of our community."

Over the next few weeks, the CE PTO will be putting in the finishing touches by adding accessories and paying for the District Painter to put a new color on the walls.
