The Colonial School District welcomed nearly two dozen new teachers in spanning grades K-12 on Tuesday, August 22. The inductees participated in three days of community building, collaboration, professional development, practice, application and mentoring to prepare them for the 2017-2018 school year.
Curriculum Supervisors, Master Teachers and teacher leaders crafted valuable learning opportunities to familiarize the new staff with "the Colonial way." After the comprehensive sessions, each inductee walked away with an understanding that the District strives for the best by maintaining high teaching and learning standards.
Some highlights of the induction program included an overview of quality lesson planning, formative assessments in response to student needs, technology integration, social learning and cooperative learning structures in the classroom.
All teachers return to the District on August 28 to prepare for the opening of the school year for students on Tuesday, September 5.
