CITV students go behind-the-scenes at Lincoln Financial Field

by Nick Cruz, PWHS Class of 2022

Colonial Instructional Television (CITV) students recently visited the home of the Philadelphia Eagles, Lincoln Financial Field.

The trip included CITV and Mass Media production students as well as a few guests: Nick Cruz, Jason Weick, Jack Sfida, Nate Sfida, Clancy Lynch, Tye Greene, Mass Media Production Teacher Mr. McWilliams and his son Nate. The students were able to explore all the different aspects of the TV production for Fox Sports and even Lincoln Financial Field's in-venue production facility.

Students met with various members of the crew that produce each and every live show from Fox Sports. The students were able to meet the director Rich Russo and Broadcasting Hall of Famer audio production specialist Fred Aldous. Former NFL referee turned in-game color Analyst Mike Pereira and Fox sideline reporter Erin Andrews were nice enough to spend time with the students. They also ran into a former student of Mr. McWilliams from Council Rock High School North, Kelly Rafferty. The students met Kelly at the in-venue production facility of Lincoln Financial Field where she is the Executive Producer.

The students also were given the opportunity to see the three different production trucks where the live Fox Sports program is produced and broadcast around the country! The students got to visit each truck, explore the different equipment and crews manning them with up to 10-20 people inside each truck. The students were even able to walk out onto the field where they saw Eagles Players practicing for the upcoming game! It truly was an amazing experience where everyone learned so much. The CITV students hope to bring back all they learned and apply it to future productions in the Mass Media production studios at Colonial School District.

Special thanks to FOX Statistician Ed Sfida, father of Jack and Nate, who was nice enough to arrange the visit for a group of CITV/Mass Media Production students before the Eagles game against the Dallas Cowboys.
