An important message from the Superintendent

Dear Colonial Families,

Providing a safe and caring environment and quality educational opportunities for all our students are of paramount importance. It is our responsibility to create a respectful and inclusive environment so that students may reach their full potential. The Conshohocken, Plymouth and Whitemarsh communities are comprised of a diverse population. Our diversity is our strength and should be celebrated, because it enriches the educational experience for our students and the adults that work with them.

The recent events throughout the country in reaction to the tragic and senseless death of Mr. George Floyd in Minneapolis are having an adverse impact on many children and adults. It is imperative that we support the African-American community with compassion and empathy. Our students need to understand that we do not tolerate racism. Equally as important, we must be willing to have meaningful conversations about race to build trust and understanding.

Please know that our administrators, teachers, counselors and psychologists are available to speak with you, offer support and ensure that students of all cultures, backgrounds and perspectives are valued and respected. Click here to go to a page of resources devoted to talking about diversity and equity with children.

The Colonial Community is and will remain strong. Prior to the pandemic we held several positive meetings with our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. We will reconvene that advisory group with the assistance of Dr. Bruce Campbell of Arcadia University prior to the start of the 2020-2021 school year. We will maintain our steadfast resolve in confronting the racial inequities that are still too prevalent in our society today.

Stay safe.
