The Department of Food Services is excited to welcome your children back in the cafeteria! Please read below for some important updates:
All meals are FREE for the rest of the 2020-2021 school year!
- Students attending schools in-person during the hybrid schedule may receive free breakfasts and lunches from the cafeteria. You don't need to complete any paperwork to take advantage of this offer. The free meals do not, however, include extras/snacks/a la carte items. Therefore, you may still deposit money into your child's account for these items. We strongly encourage cashless transactions at this time. Click here to add money to your accounts via myschoolbucks.com.
- If you still prefer to pack your child's lunch, please feel free to take advantage of our "Pick 3 and It's Free" program. This means packed meals can be supplemented with a fruit, vegetable and milk from the cafeteria for no charge. Students must select all three components according to federal guidelines in order to receive the items for free.
Take Home and weekly Meal Packs
Colonial will also be offering free Take Home Meals for hybrid learners in addition to free weekly Meal Packs for fully virtual learners.
- Take Home Meals for hybrid students:
Hybrid group "A" students can receive Take Home Meals at the end of day Monday for Tuesday, and again on Wednesday for Thursday and Friday. Hybrid group "B" students can receive Take Home Meals at the end of the day Tuesday for Wednesday, and again on Thursday for Friday and Monday.
- Meal Packs for full virtual students:
Fully virtual students may still pick up weekly Meal Packs that include five days' worth of breakfasts and lunches. The pick up will be moving to Fridays between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., and will only be available at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.
All Take Home Meals or Meal Packs MUST be preordered in advance.
With more than 5,000 meals going out each week since the 2020-2021 school year began, we know our safety! All staff have been trained in rigorous food safety standards and have received further training specific to COVID-19. Students will not need to touch a pin pad or finger scan, as a touchless check out process is in place. Staff are equipped with appropriate PPE including masks, gloves, and face shields, and plexiglass barriers have been installed where applicable. Students will also use disposable silverware and prepackaged condiments. No self-serve areas will be present at this time.
Please understand we will have a simple menu to start as our main goal will be to get children through the line quickly, safely and efficiently. Additional food items will be added throughout the year.
We encourage you to take advantage of the free meals prepared by the Colonial School District Food Services Department. In addition to saving families time and money, the program helps provide funding to the District while supporting regional farmers and agriculture during this time.
