School Board Update – January meeting

Four people seated with five people standing behind them.On January 17, the Colonial Board of School Directors passed Policy #256 – Gender Expansive and Transgender Students on a second-read basis, thereby enacting the policy. Click here to view the policy on the District website.

The Board also adopted resolutions to adopt the Pennsylvania School Boards Association's (PSBA) Principles for Governance and Leadership and announce a required Act 34 public meeting on the Colonial Middle School building project. In adopting the PSBA principles, the Board recognized their value to help the board run efficiently, ethically and in the best interests of our students. The purpose of the Act 34 meeting is to review all relevant matters relating to the planning, designing, constructing, furnishing and equipping of a new middle school to be built on the current middle school property.

The Act 34 meeting will be held on Monday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the District Office General Meeting Room located in Colonial Elementary School, 230 Flourtown Road in Plymouth Meeting.

MEETING CHANGES ANNOUNCED. The Board's February public business meeting has been moved up to Tuesday, February 19. The purpose of the move is the adoption of a preliminary budget, which must be submitted to the state by February 20. Additionally, the location of the February 11 Curriculum Committee and Policy Committee meetings schedule for 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively, have been moved from the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Library to the Central Montco Technical High School board room. Finally, the February 4 Facilities Committee and Finance Committee have switched meeting times. Facilities will begin at 5 p.m. with Finance now scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
