Comcast

Comcast offers affordable Internet through their Internet Essentials program. New Internet Essentials customers will receive two free months of Internet service if you apply and are approved by December 31, 2020. After promotion, regular rates ($9.95/month — subject to change) apply.

Lifeline

If you or someone in your household participate in a federal assistance program, you may qualify for Lifeline, the Federal Communication Commission’s program that helps lower either monthly phone or internet costs. Lifeline provides a discount of $9.25 per month for either your phone or internet bill (but not both) and is limited to one discount per household.

How do I create a Parent/Guardian Account (called an Observer Account)?

Directions:

Click here to go to the Colonial Canvas page.
Click on "Need a Canvas Account? Click Here, It's Free!"
Click on "Parents Sign Up Here."
Enter the required information including your name, email address, student pairing code, password and password confirmation.
To get a Student Pairing Code, see "How do I get a pairing code?" below. Student usernames and passwords for Canvas are the same ones they use to log into a computer at school.
Before you will be able to log in to Canvas, you will need to check your email and follow the steps in the Canvas welcome email to confirm your account.

How do I add additional students to my Canvas Parent/Guardian (Observer) Account?

You only need one Canvas account to monitor all of your students’ courses. Once you’ve created a Canvas account, follow these steps to add other children.

Note: these instructions will only work in the desktop version of Canvas, not the mobile app.

Click here for directions on the Canvas webpage and log in.
Select "Account" in the blue bar on the left-hand side and select "Observing".
Enter the pairing code see directions below and click "+Student".

Zoom

How do I sign up and download Zoom?

How do I join a Zoom meeting?

The teacher will send or post an invite to a Zoom session that includes a Meeting ID and Password. Click the join meeting link, input the Meeting ID and Password, and follow the prompts.

*Prior to the time the session is to start, you will want to make sure that you have Zoom installed on your device and are ready to go.
- If signed in to Chrome with your CSD Google credentials, check your Google Extensions to see if it is not already there. (The icon is blue square with a white video camera in it.) You can launch the extension and put in the credentials there.
- If not using the Chrome extension, you can download the application. You have a few options to get Zoom, if needed
- When you click on the link provided by your teacher, follow the prompts to install. (Will download automatically or click here to download)
