Special Education Questions

Lisa Nicolosi
I am writing to first say that full virtual is a good idea but I am concerned for our IEP kids. (my son being one of them).  Is there a plan in place for support for them if needed?  Thanks for all you are doing to keep our children and teachers healthy and safe!  Sincerely, Lisa Nicolosi

Are IEP students also going to be 100% virtual, and if so how does the district plan to address any goals that up to this point  could not be assessed through virtual learning?

Our students have spent all of third quarter, along with ESY working on goals, in which teachers were unable to collect data through the virtual platform, and now will again not be able to for an extended period of time. They cannot be expected to continue to work on the same goals without any data collection taking place.

I have three children in the school district. All have IEP’s/learning support. I picked the hybrid option because they all need that in person support to assist with their learning needs. What is the plan for these individuals who require this support. I understand there is a plan for those with intensive needs but what about those with moderate needs? How will this be accommodated in an all virtual environment? I think these children need some in person time to help with needs and reinforce what is being taught virtually.

How are speech ieps going to be handled if we go fully virtually. My daughter receives 2 sessions a week and hasn’t received her full sessions since March. I hate to see her regress. I also know speech is hard to implement over zooms.

What are the provisions for students with an IEP?? Will there be a list of teachers that can tutor?? Please don't make my name of email public.

Could you show me a virtual model would look like for an IEP student (especially for a life skills elementary student)?

Also will a 1:2 aide be available for guidance and help?

Hello, I am curious as to what is going to happen with children who need special assistance. My daughter has an IEP and I’m curious as to how she will be receiving her services.
