Budget Information
The budget process in the Colonial School District is driven by two objectives: to maximize every child's potential by providing the best possible educational opportunities and resources and to be fiscally responsible to taxpayers. Schools Boards are limited in the amount that they can raise property taxes by Special Session Act 1 of 2006 which prohibits districts from raising taxes above the state-mandated index without voter approval. However, the law does permit districts to apply to the Pennsylvania Department of Education for certain referendum exceptions that, when approved, would allow the district to raise taxes above the limit without voter approval.
