Description: This club serves as a conduit of information and an opportunity for students to share cultural history and highlights.

Best Buddies

Description: PW students are matched with students with intellectual disabilities in 1 to 1 friendships.
Eligibility Requirements: Must be patient, creative, friendly and genuine. Application process

Black Cultural Awareness

Description: The BCA Club serves as a conduit of information for many minority students. Eradicating stereotypes, sharing cultural history and visiting local sites of cultural interest are club activities.
Eligibility Requirements: None

Guitars for Good

Description: Small groups of students will have the opportunity to play guitars at local events and gatherings to help raise money for charities and will also entertain at nursing homes and hospitals. Part of our goal includes sponsoring donation drives to collect used instruments. We will work in conjunction with Musicopia, a local organization, to distribute instruments to help revitalize music programs in underserved schools in the Philadelphia area.
Eligibility Requirements: Must have at least basic skills on guitar or bass (will consider other instruments as well) and have an interest in sharing a love for music with others.
Time Commitment: Will meet periodically during I-Block. Be willing to attend several fundraising and community service events throughout the year.
Procedure for Joining: Attend an organizational meeting in the fall and join our Facebook page (or provide an email) for updated information.

Habitat for Humanity

Description: With Montgomery County Habitat Chapter, students help to provide affordable housing for people in need through volunteer work and fundraising
Eligibility Requirements: Any age to join, but students must be 16 or older for site work
Time Commitment: Must attend meetings, take part in fundraising and work sites

Interact

Description: Interact is Rotary International’s service club for high school students. Our Interact club completes at least two fundraising commitments per year and multiple service projects for our local community.
Eligibility Requirements: Willingness to participate in a number of community service projects and two mandatory fundraising events.

Lemon Club

Description: This club will help raise money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand and pediatric cancer.

PW/GA Student Coalition

Description: The Plymouth Whitemarsh/Germantown Academy Student Coalition is an organization whose student members develop and implement projects designed to improve the health and safety of their peers. Students will work with the Whitemarsh Police Department in anti-drinking and driving campaigns, anti-texting campaigns, and other contemporary issues.
Eligibility Requirements: None
Time Commitment: Weekly meetings during I Block and additional as necessary

Sara’s Smiles

Description: Sara’s Smiles is a foundation that provides activity kits, stress relievers and decorations for children in local hospitals undergoing treatment for no cost. Students will help to create a more positive and comfortable experience for children battling cancer.

S.A.V.E. – Nurturing Minds

Description: This group raises funds that directly supports the Sega School in Tanzania which is dedicated to the education of girls who live in extreme poverty and would otherwise not have the chance to attend school.

Time Commitment: 1-3 hours per month

Students against Destructive Decisions (SADD)

Description: This group serves to actively combat destructive decisions and serve as a model for the student body on how to enjoy life the right way.
Eligibility Requirements: Willingness to abide by SADD rules of conduct
Time Commitment: 1-5 hours a month

Tutor Club

Description: Students go to Colonial Elementary School from 2:30 – 3:15 p.m. to tutor fourth or fifth graders individually and in small groups. Tutors may help students with class projects, difficult topics/subjects, enrichment activities, etc.
Eligibility Requirements: Students must have proficient grades and a passion for helping others.
Time Commitment: Flexible schedule; sessions from 2:30 – 3:15 p.m.
