BOOK CLUB

Description: Students select and read a book each month, and participate in weekly discussions during Bonus Block.

COMPUTER SCIENCE CLUB

Description: Members hear guest speakers and compete in regional competitions
Eligibility Requirements: Should be aware of computer science and programming concepts.

DECA

Description: Students developing leadership skills in the areas of marketing, management and entrepreneurship. Students compete at the regional, state and national level.
Eligibility Requirements: Students must have taken at least one business course (or currently be enrolled in a business course in the Fall Semester)

FBLA (FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA)

Description: FBLA provides innovative leadership and career development programs. Competitive events consist of more then 30 events ranging from computer related to public speaking.

FEA (FUTURE EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION)

Description: The Future Educators Association (FEA) program provides opportunities for high school students to explore careers in education.
Eligibility Requirements: None
Time Commitment: Meet once a month from September through March.

ROBOTICS CLUB

Description: Students interested in the field of robotics are encouraged to design and build robots for in-school activities as well as events at local and national robotic competitions. We will be building and programming Vex robots as well as Arduinos and any other type of robots that students share with the club.
Eligibility Requirements: Any students interested in robots, technology, designing, building and/or programming.
Time Commitment: Students can expect to work on their robotic projects during available I-Block periods as well as some after school commitments. Additional after school activities will be necessary to prepare for competitions typically held on Saturdays, at various locations around the region.

FRENCH CLUB

Description: The purpose of the PW French Club is to offer opportunities to experience French culture through food, music, games and film.
Eligibility Requirements: All students interested in French language and culture
Time Commitment: Club members meet after school one afternoon a month

LATIN CLUB

Description: Promotes Latin and engages students in Latin beyond the classroom
Eligibility Requirements: All are welcome… Knowledge of Latin helps.

MEDICAL/SCIENCE CAREERS CLUB

Description: Students explore medical and science careers by listening to guest speakers and attending after school field trips.
Eligibility Requirements: Must submit club form and be able to participate in half of the club sponsored activities (badminton tournament, blood drive, field trip).
Time Commitment: One I-Block meeting a month and four after school meetings a year.

MOCK TRIAL

Description: This program provides students with a better understanding of the legal profession and judicial system. Students play the roles of lawyers and witnesses.
Eligibility Requirements: None
Time Commitment: After school meetings twice a week from September through March

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

Description: An organization designed to foster and promote scholarship, leadership, service and character.
Eligibility Requirements: 11th and 12 graders must meet scholarship, service, leadership and character standards as described in PWHS handbook.
Time Commitment: Monthly meeting attendance and 20-25 hours of community service per year.
Procedure for Joining: In August, 11th and 12th graders meeting the mean academic standard of 3.25 unweighted cumulative GPA are invited to submit an application to the faculty committee.

READING OLYMPICS

Description: Students read at least six books from a list published through the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit and participate in a quiz show competition with students from other schools in the county.

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD

Description: Annual regional, state and national science competition
Eligibility Requirements: 9th-12th grade students interested in science

Description: Students will be able to compete in various contests based on their interests and will receive guidance, teams, and information for competitions.

SPANISH CLUB

Description: PW students focus on improving their Spanish, understanding the cultures of Spanish-speaking areas, and helping the Spanish-speaking community
Eligibility Requirements: An interest in Spanish, culture, and willingness to participate
Time Commitment: One meeting a month during I-Block, afterschool and weekends depending on interest and availability
