On June 18, 2015, Moody’s Investors Service has assigned a Aa1 for the Colonial School District in reference to a $10 million General Obligation Limited Tax Bond. Concurrently, Moody’s has affirmed the Aa1 rating on the District’s $39 million in outstanding debt yet to be incurred for the renovations at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School. Moody's recognizes the District's above-average tax base, modest debt burden and commercial/residential development as reasons for the favorable rating.

With an Aa1 rating, Colonial School District ranks as one of the most financially stable school districts in Pennsylvania – while maintaining the third lowest real estate tax rate in Montgomery County. From overseeing the zero-based budget process to finding creative ways to generate revenue and cut costs, the Finance Department takes great pride in a strong dedication to fiscal responsibility for its students and members of the community.
