The website Niche.com has ranked the Colonial School District among the best public school districts in Pennsylvania and the nation. The site's rankings of the "2018 Best School Districts" has Colonial rated number 10 among the 497 districts rated in Pennsylvania and 114th of 10,574 school districts in America. According to the website, its rankings are based "on rigorous analysis of academic and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data and ratings collected from millions of Niche users."
The rankings place Colonial second in Montgomery County behind Lower Merion (#4). Other Montgomery County school districts rated in the top 20 in Pennsylvania include North Penn (#11), Wissahickon (#13) and Lower Moreland (#19).
Niche also ranks Colonial as the sixth best public school district in the state for Places to Teach, 19th for the Best Teachers and 19th for the Safest School Districts.
