Colonial Middle School orchestra students recently showed their excitement for the Philadelphia Eagles playoff game by arranging and performing a rousing rendition of "Fly Eagles Fly."
Originally, the students only had the melody in treble clef. They looked at the chord patterns to create harmonies and a basic bass line.
"I'm so incredibly proud," said Maria O'Connor, Orchestra Director at Colonial Middle School. "The fact that these students have the musicianship to pull together an arrangement and give it some peppy spirit is a huge thing for this age group."
The students also made the connection that what they as an orchestra — working collaboratively to do something positive — is similar to what the Eagles players work together to win games.
