Colonial rising freshman to participate in exclusive summer music program

Timothy Kim, a rising freshman in the Colonial School District, was named the first-place winner, junior winds, at the 2017 Tri-County Concerts Association Youth Festival held in June at the Montgomery County Community College.

Mr. Kim who has been studying the clarinet for four years played for the Colonial Middle School (CMS) Band and the CMS Wind Ensemble. He is also a member of the Delaware County Youth Orchestra and Philadelphia Sinfonia.

Mr. Kim was accepted into the summer program of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States (NY02) at Carnegie Hall's Weill Institute, where he is looking forward to meeting and taking lessons from Ricardo Morales, the Principal Clarinetist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Other than playing clarinet, Timothy enjoys reading about World War II and doing archery.
