MATH CLUB

Description: Math Club is a fun and interactive club that builds mathematical knowledge and skills through healthy competition. Students will use prior learned mathematics and a whole lot of new stuff, too. Students take part in Math Olympiad competitions, the MATHCOUNTS competition and the LIMT tournament.
Eligibility Requirements: 6th, 7th and 8th grades
Time Commitment: The Math Club meets during activity period one day a week throughout the year and one day a week after school in January.
Procedure for Joining: Select Math Club during Activity Choice Time, contact Mr. Gebhardt or tell your math teacher.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY

Description: An organization designed to foster scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character.
Eligibility Requirements: Distinguished Honor Roll throughout 6th and 7th grade (all As and one B each marking period).
Time Commitment: Monthly meetings, peer tutoring and nine service hours.
Procedure for Joining: By invitation only.

READING OLYMPICS

Description: Students read books from a list published through the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit and participate in a celebration of reading with students from other schools in the country.
Eligibility Requirements: None
Time Commitment: Independent reading set at student’s own pace for spring competition

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD

Description: Science Olympiad is a competition which takes place in March. Schools from around Delaware Valley will compete in over 20 different events. Each school can bring a team of no more than 15 students to the competition. Most events are for two students, and most students compete in 3-4 events. Some examples are: Anatomy, Disease Detectives, Dynamic Planet, Water Quality and Wheeled Vehicle.
Eligibility Requirements: Students must be in grades 6-9. No more than 15 students can attend. Students will be selected by the work completed for their events. They must be in good academic standing and have no discipline issues.
Time Commitment: One activity period a week during the second session, plus time outside of class as needed for each event.
Procedure for Joining: Contact one of the sponsors to let her know of your interest.

TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS ASSOCIATION

Description: Students compete in regional, state and national technology-related activities.
